We said goodbye and thank you to our French-British guide Julie and gave her a brass camel. After check-in -always kind of exciting- and some very last dutyfree shoppings we took the Gulf Air plane back to Bahrain. Shortly after take off we could see the Eiffeltower from the skies. Also we did The ultimate French DBGS goes to France 2006 test and scored extremely high marks, so we all were the winners of this French trip and got a mini Eiffeltower. We landed on time and had hardly any delay going through the Bahraini and Saudi customs. Mrs. Gantzer had started calling the parents who welcomed us a little after 10 pm, together with Mr. and Mrs. Chapman and Mr. Hardcastle; an unforgettable trip had come to an end.

journée 6

The day at Euro Disney. Perhaps the most anticipated day of the Trip.
After eating breakfast at about 8:45 a.m., we made our way to Euro Disney in small groups. We each recieved an extra 20 euros in pocket money! Upon arrival we gathered at the entrance and received tickets, maps, emergency numbers etc. Now that we were ready, we were let loose into the Park.
Whether it was slow train rides or super fast roller coasters, Euro Disney had something to offer for everyone; especially Space Mountain. By midday, we regrouped at a fast food restaurant where we all had lunch. After much shopping, many of us spent our time watching the parade before it was unfourtunetly time to go. It was awesome! After that, we decided to brose around a little longer.
To end the day, we dined at King Ludwig's Castle. The food was delicious. I had a cheesy pasta topped with cheddar cheese...yum!! We also had a rich bowl of desert of vanilla, butterscotch and chocolate ice cream. You wouldn't believe how much more i still have to say! But we're in a rush, making sure we get in bed early tonight before our journey back to Saudi tommorow... Hope to see you all as soon as possible.

Hani and Ewan

journée 5

The day started at 7 for most of us. The breakfast was at 8 and it was good. It was Sam's 16th birthday, so we had cake and champagne (non-alcoholic, don'worry). After breakfast we started the trip to Jugon Les Lacs, where we had the choice of sailing and canoeing. It was great fun, and suspence was just too high said Saad. Rami said he was to sail everytime he can. Anastacia said canoeing was a different experience, but worth the while. Jack M. said his arms were like iron. Lunch back at the Manoir the Belouze was spectacular, since there were snails and scallops involved. We went to medieval Dinan for an interesting tour, did shoppings in a hypermarket and got a drink in a cafe. The train in Rennes had a delay of 1.5 hours and so it was after midnight that we could go to our beds. Need a good night for Disney tomorrow!

Jenny Armstrong.

Photographs from Sunday

More photographs have been added to the French Trip Gallery.
You may need to refresh or reload the page if the site hasn't changed.

French Trip Gallery

journée 4

Salut!
This has been our fourth day here in this très bon country. We had a day full of excitement and surprises thanks to our guide Kevin and our wonderful teachers. Yesterday the first surprise the girls got to hear was that we were going to go swim. This of course caused some panic by the girls; "OMG what to bring, what to bring!!". But luckily everything went well and everyone brought all the right stuff, with a few exeptions of the two brothers forgetting their towels...
After swimming we had a second surprise waiting for us, we all had a taste of the french delicasy, crêpes!
We then had a tour around the St Malo town (walls) and then to all the girls delight, it was time to shop!
After having kids running around St Malo with big shopping bags, it was time to load up and head to Mont St Michel, an island off the Atlantic coast which is the third most visited place in France after the Eiffel tower and EuroDisney.
We did a questionnaire on Mont St Michel.
Coming back to the Manoir de Balouze, the medieval hotel we are staying in, after such a long day of sight seeing, everyone still had enough energy to all join in with a crazy game of juggling (see photo gallery).
At night, after a normal dinner, we had a contest of which group could think of the best rhythm and create a nice show.
We know that tomorrow is going to be just as great as today has been!

XxX Celine Lemoine and Maartje de Windt XxX

Photographs added

New photographs added to the gallery - click on the link on the right.

journée 3

Bonjour everyone over in Saudi!
Today has certainly been fun. This morning we left the futurescope hotel and headed to taste some delicous french wine! Of course for us it was non-alchoholic. The tour ended quicker then we anticipated and so we got the chance to see some true french culture. We had the chance to walk through a market area. Obviously there was a lot of cheese (I guess its a french thing!) A couple of people decided to buy a french sausage. After the market we drove down to a chateau c'etait super! We looked round inside & out. Next was one of the best bits of the whole day. A picnic by the loire river. After eating some of the guys decided to play football - extremely funny to watch as they were playing in mud!
The coach ride in which we sat for four and a half hours (while listening to rami's toy frog singing Go Shorty!) seemed very long. However after what seemed aaagggeeeesss we arrived at the medieval hotel. Shortley after we ate...with our fingers! There was live entertainment - including juggling fire sticks. There were two people mainly involved with our meal. The man was dressed as a minstrel (a medieval entertainer) and the women in traditional medieval dress. To eat with no cutlery was definately an experiance but also loads of fun especially as many of us couldn't quite get the hang of it! Afterwards was bedtime and tomorrow we prepare for an early wake an exciting day.
Au revoir everyone!
(Rebecca Nelson)

Day 2: from Samah Ali and Freya Cooper

We got to the airport on the 28th of September and we were alll sooo tired but then we got straight onto the bus. On our way to the boat trip we saw many monuments eg: Arc du triumph,Eiffel Tower,Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and lots more. We finally arrived at the beautiful river and enjoyed the ride. It was amazing! The wind was blowing in our hair. After that we went to touch the Eiffel Tower!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes i know we are very luck. Then we went on a tour of France. We saw: The Moulin Rouge, the Inside out building and Notre à Dam. Then came the unexpected, we had to walk.... no run through Paris to catch up with Mr.Snieder so that we wouldnt miss going up the Mont Parnasse . The view was amazing! we could see everything. After that we rode on the TGV to Poiters and Mr. Snieder asked Jenny and Me ( Freya) go and get 33 bottles of water, which was very traumatic and not what we were expecting at all!! It was frightening as the train wobble fron side to side at high speed and trying not to knock people out as we passed through!!! We were expecting it to go really really fast but it didnt seem like it. We arrived at the hotel next to Futuroscope at 7:30pm. Although the rooms were small we lived through it knowing that we were going to have an amazing day. And night by the way. The trip went really well and we arrived on time in a dark but soon sunny Paris. Off to the Seine boat: 1 world famous monument after another, e.g. Notre Dame, Louvre, Eiffel Tower etc. etc. In the meantime: waving at Parisians and lots of oohhs and aahhs. We were welcomed by our travel agent/guide in France Julie Trainor. We got to touch the Eiffel Tower + take lots of pictures of course. Then to the Louvre by coach, lots of sightseeing on the way, even more photos + excellent ambiance, although we were quite tired. After lunch we went to see the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo amongst others: impressive! By bus to Tour Montparnasse, but we ended up in a traffic jam because of 1 of those famous French demonstrations... So we got off the bus and walked the last 1.5 km to be on time to take the fast elevator to the roof of Tour Montparnasse (after the Eiffel Tower the second highest building of Paris). Late afternoon we took the TGV to Poitiers where we just had dinner and everybody is longing to go to bed. Tomorrow Futuroscope! (and photos for the galleries)

last schoolday

Today participants and staff are excited and above all ready to go.
